Privacy policy

This policy explains what information is collected when you use clyep.io (the "site"), a public gallery of short video explainers on AI and machine learning, and what we do with it. The site is operated by Ready Tensor, Inc. ("Clyep", "we", "us"), which is responsible for the information described here. The policy covers this site only.

1. The short version

The site has no accounts, no advertising and no cross-site tracking, and we set no cookies of our own.
Watching or liking a video stores a random anonymous identifier in your browser, used only to count views and likes.
We learn your name and email address only if you write to us through the contact form.
We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising.

2. What is collected

2.1 When you browse

We use Plausible Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they open. Plausible uses no cookies, does not follow visitors across sites or from one day to the next, and gives us totals only: page views, referring sites, countries and device types.

Like any website, the servers that deliver the site, the videos and our counting service receive your IP address, your browser type and the page requested, and may keep them in short-lived logs for security and troubleshooting. We do not link those logs to the viewer identifier or to contact form messages.

2.2 When you watch or like a video

The first time you play or like a video, the browser creates a random anonymous viewer identifier and keeps it in your browser's local storage. It is sent with view and like data so that one person counts as one view per video per day and one like per video. We store only a scrambled form of it. It is not linked to your name, email address, IP address or any account, and it is not used to follow you on other websites.

A view records which video and version was played, the day, and which parts were played, in seconds. A like records the video and the time.

The videos play in a player provided by Bunny Stream, whose servers receive your IP address and browser details in order to deliver the video.

2.3 When you write to us

The contact form sends us your name, your email address, your message and, for a video request, the topic and the intended audience. It is delivered to our email inbox through Formspark, a form-handling service. We use it only to read and answer your message and, for a request, to decide on and make the video. Messages are not stored on the site and are not linked to the viewer identifier.

2.4 The check that tells people from bots

To keep the counts honest and the contact form free of spam, the first play of a video and the sending of a message each run Cloudflare Turnstile, an invisible check with no puzzle to solve. Cloudflare processes the connection and browser information the check needs, as described in the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum. We receive only the result.

3. Cookies and browser storage

We set no cookies. The only thing we keep in your browser is the anonymous viewer identifier described above, and only after you play or like a video. Clearing the site data for clyep.io in your browser removes it. The video player and the bot check are run by Bunny and Cloudflare and may use storage that is strictly necessary to do their job.

4. How the information is used

to deliver the site and the videos;
to count views and likes, show them on the site, and see which videos are watched and how far;
to keep bots and abuse out of the counts and the contact form;
to understand in total how the site is used and improve it;
to answer messages and consider video requests;
to meet legal obligations and enforce the terms of use.

We do not sell personal information, share it for advertising, or use it to build profiles of visitors.

5. The services we use

These companies process information on our behalf so that the site can run. Each receives only what its job needs.

Beyond these, we disclose information only if the law requires it, to protect the site or its visitors, or to a successor if the site changes hands, who would remain bound by this policy.

6. How long it is kept

View and like records are kept for as long as the video is on the site, because they are its counts. They hold no name, email address or IP address.
Analytics are kept as totals that identify no one.
Messages are kept for up to 24 months after our last exchange with you, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
Server logs are kept by our hosting providers for short periods under their own schedules.

7. Your choices and rights

You can browse and read the site without playing a video, and no viewer identifier is created until you do. You can remove the identifier at any time by clearing the site data for clyep.io.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to complain to your data protection authority. To use any of these, write to legal@clyep.io. We will answer within the time the law sets and will not treat you differently for asking.

Because view and like records carry no name, we cannot find yours from your name or email address. If you want them deleted, send us the viewer identifier from your browser's storage for clyep.io and we will delete the records that match it.

7.1 If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law

We collect the categories described in section 2: internet activity information, an anonymous identifier, and the contact details you send us. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the rights to know, correct and delete described above, and you may use an authorized agent to make a request.

7.2 If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland

We rely on our legitimate interests to run and secure the site, count views and likes, keep bots out and understand in total how the site is used, and on your request when we answer a message you sent. Clyep is based in the United States, and the information is processed there and in the other countries where the services in section 5 operate. Where the law requires it, we use recognized safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for those transfers.

8. Children

The site is for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the contact form, write to us and we will delete it.

9. Security

The site and its services are served over encrypted connections, and access to the database and the inbox is limited to the people who run the site. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep what we collect small.

10. Clients of the earlier production service

Clyep earlier offered a video production service. Records from that work, such as client contacts and invoices, are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires and are handled under the agreement they were collected under.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, and we will update it before the site starts collecting anything new. The new version is posted here with a new effective date.
